France Lagging Behind On MiCA Compliance: AMF Warns Crypto Actors
France’s financial regulator, the Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF), has issued a stark warning to the country’s crypto sector. With the full implementation of the Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulation approaching, the AMF notes a concerning lack of preparedness among French crypto firms.
Despite a transitional period extending to June 2026 for registered digital asset service providers (PSANs), few have submitted approval applications. The AMF characterizes this delay as "procrastination"—a pointed critique underscoring the urgency of compliance.
While other European regulators have already granted multiple MiCA approvals, France risks falling behind competitively. The AMF emphasizes its readiness to support PSANs through the approval process, which it deems critical for maintaining France’s position in the European crypto landscape.
